What is City of STEM?

City of STEM is a month-long initiative that celebrates STEM and making all over Greater Los Angeles and beyond during the month of April.  It includes an annual City of STEM festival that features over 200 STEM organizations and makers, workshops, stage performances, competitions, panel discussions, and more!

  • Be part of the Official Science Festival of Los Angeles County by sharing your passion, projects and innovation with the community.  Whether you’re into robotics, nature, making, engineering, arts, technology, math and everything in between … this is the place for you!

    • Showcase your work!  Get your projects and programs in front of 20,000+ event attendees.

    • Inspire others!  Our mission is to inspire learners of all ages and backgrounds to create, experiment, explore, and have fun while engaging in STEM and Making.

    • Network and Collaborate!  Get to know fellow exhibitors and presenters who share the same passion as you and learn about the variety of resources in our community.

  • City of STEM is a partnership between the event producers and passionate STEM organizations and makers.  Are you a maker?  Does your club, organization, business, or museum have something to share with the Southern California community?  Have an idea for a contest or competition related to STEM or Making?  Become a partner an exhibitor!  We welcome …


    • Hands-On Activities and Making: Interactive demos, workshops, DIY crafts.

    • Art & Design: Installations, sculptures, and creative exhibits.

    • Tech & Innovation: Robotics, 3D printing, drones, VR/AR, etc.

    • Nature & Space: Animals, ocean, space exploration, and astronomy.

    • Sustainability & Green Tech: Projects focused on recycling, renewable energy.

    • Performances: Musical acts, dance, or performance art with a STEM or maker twist.

    • Outdoor event

    • Canopies, tables & chairs provided

    • No reliable WiFi available.  Bring a hotspot if essential.

    • Power provided.

    • This is a free event for guests and exhibitors. We kindly ask that you pay for parking or arrange transportation for yourself.

How to Apply

New, streamlined registration system hosted on Maker Alley!

For 2026 City of STEM + LA Maker Faire exhibitors, your profile has been started with some imported info from the 2026 event.

  • Go to Maker Alley (https://makeralley.com/) and register your email.

  • After logging in, you will see an option to Claim Your Profile.  Click Start Claim.

  • Edit the imported details as needed and add at least one project.

  • In the Event box on the right, sign up for City of STEM.

For past Maker Faire OC exhibitors, your profile is right where you left it.

  • Go to Maker Alley (https://makeralley.com/) and login to your existing profile.

  • Edit your profile as needed.

  • In the Event box on the right, sign up for City of STEM.

For new exhibitors, you will create an account on Maker Alley.

  • Go to Maker Alley (https://makeralley.com/) and register your email.

  • Follow the directions on the welcome page. You will start by selecting "Start New Maker Organization".

  • Create your organization, add details, and add at least one project.

  • On the right, in the Events box, select City of STEM 2027.
